Breaking Up is hard to do.

Unless, you already have an idea of how to do it.

I was watching Party of Five today, (Season 2 episode 22) and when Julia and Justin have to perform in class after they break up, it is both very fitting and very touching.

My problem is this: This kind of scene had already been miraculously done by My So-Called Life. When Angela and Rayanne have to go on stage and rehearse a scene from Our Town.

The scenes are very similar and far too alike for me.

@ 1:40 the scene from PO5

and the scene from MSCL

Party of Five episode 'Benefactors'

*Spoiler alert* The first episode I have seen so far, that makes you feel good at the end of it. Not to say that things won't go downhill by episode 2x16 but I hope they won't. Too many horrible things have happened to Bailey for me to think that they won't cut him and everyone else a break. Also Julia's date with her creepy tutor was cute, and you find out that he is kind of cool by then end of it.

The Foo Fighters - Everlong

Great song, terrific video.

It's the second single from their 1997 album The Colour and Shape.

The video is directed by Michel Gondry and is about a couple and their dreams of two men who are after the wife. Surreal and funny, it is unique and basically, awesome. Enjoy!

Rayanne Graff Pt 1

(Warning, this contains spoilers to the show, if you wish to not be spoiled, read at a later date.)
I think that Rayanne Graff is a great character. She is not your average girl, rather she is a very good example of a good person who has made mistakes, and no doubt will make more.
She is a good friend to Angela, regardless of the things she has done. She has only ever had good intentions. I think that she gets a little too overwhelmed sometimes, and it really has it's toll on her. I think we all know that she envies Angela to a certain extent, she sees her as someone who has a great father and a mother who cares.

(This is not to say that Rayanne's mother doesn't care, in fact I believe that it is the exact opposite, which I will put into it's own post at a later date.)

I think that deep down, Rayanne would give anything for that kind of attention and stability.

We all know that she didn't want to hurt Angela when she slept with Jordan, I think it was her way of being Angela for a minute........

Coverage Pt 1

Here is a list of things that I will be talking about, (If you are unfamiliar with any topic of mine, thats okay, think of this as a list of recommendations in that case.)

Now the great thing about watching '90s Movies, Television, or even wearing the fashion... is that it all already exists. There is no waiting time at all... If you are ever waiting for a great movie to be made or a great TV show the chances are that there is one already out there for you.

Just keep it in mind to be careful, as since there is everything there already, there is a limited amount... Your new favorite show only has a certain number of episodes and watching them all in two weeks might end up being very sad for you when there isn't anymore. I know this from personal experience.
Also, eventually you will run out of movies, etc. but re-watching is a great option if you are okay with it, you usually find new things to enjoy about things. There are a million ways to watch something!

I wont be able to mention everything I love from the nineties in one post, I would never be able to think of them all at once... but this should be a lot for now.

The many faces of flannel.

'90s Alt

Clueless (Film and Television program)

The Craft

The Crow

Empire Records

Pump up The Volume

The Wonder Years (This will be a cross-decade reference)

Party of Five

Freaks and Geeks

Melrose Place

Beverly Hills, 90210

Living Single

The Good Son

Boy Meets World

Baby Doll Dresses

Almost a billion teen movies

Sweet Valley High and the like...

Many pop culture references

Pop Music!!!!! (Boy Bands, Girls Bands, R&B...)

I will try my best to post an overview at the beginning of every week so that you(and I) know what's coming up ahead. Also, many of these topics will have many posts regarding them... I like to bask in the details.

Snapple!

Remember kids, shake your Snapple the proper way, by slamming the cap on your palm. And as always, have fun!

Yesterday's topic...

I have always preferred Brenda over Kelly... Don't get me wrong, I think Kelly is great and all, but she was never the best friend. And don't even get me started on the whole cult thing... Brenda also seemed much more realistic to me. More like your everyday girl that one can relate to.

Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano back together at last.

It has been fifteen sad years, but here it is... the photo you have all been waiting for:

Okay, but what about Brian?

Also, I though these were just too good to pass up:

The 90s are All That

Teenick is going to be bringing back our favorite shows this fall. Programs like Pete and Pete and Clarissa Explains it All, All That and The Amanda Show are going to be playing from 12-2 a.m. in three hour blocks. So pick up your remotes and pop the popcorn!

Yay, All That!

I have some fun and exciting news, and though that this game was a cool treat.

Anyone ever learn this dance?

Remember the old themes for your favorite shows? Which was the best in your opinion?

Brenda Walsh or Kelly Taylor?

I know big question, right?

Who do you prefer Dylan with? Was Brenda just as bad in Paris with our friend Superman as Kelly was at home with Dylan? Did he make the right choice? Or better yet, who is your favorite overall? The good girl who tries to be bad, or the bad girl who wants to be good? Think about it and I will post my opinion tomorrow. Goodnight!

(If you have never seen Beverly Hills, 90210 I recommend it... Not serious great television, but highly entertaining and dramatic... The first season has a lot of morally themed episodes that are still contemporary. Episodes are fairly easy to find online or to buy.)

First blog (I will post an introduction sometime soon...)

I am so in love with Party of Five. Great TV. I love early 90s teen shows, and this one is great. After falling in love with My So-Called Life (going on 6/7 years now) and Freaks and Geeks, not to mention any other good show that I really enjoy (Huge, others) that dies after just one season, I start to wonder if America really knows what good television even is. I am very glad that I have six seasons to watch. I miss the 90s and wish I were older when I had the opportunity to enjoy them. It fits more with me I guess... The whole environment, I love the music (90s alt is ALWAYS good) the style (flannel and crushed velvet dresses... and so much more, mary janes and Docs, list goes on) and the over all quality of the writing and acting. And the use of on location sets and natural lighting doesn't hurt. I will always prefer Neve Campbell and Claire Danes over anyone on today's screens. Not to mention movies like The Craft... I feel at home in the nuance. Damn, I wish so bad that things were still like that... I don't even think I would miss the Awesome power of today's internet (youtube, facebook, myspace or whatever) if I could be a young adult then... Sometimes life isn't fair and we don't get born when we should have... At least I have shows like this to give me a taste now and then.....
